About X-Ray – General Diagnostics

Your physician may order general diagnostic exams to diagnose conditions in the chest, bone, sinuses, spine or skull.   A physician orders x-rays to perform a painless, quick evaluation, often detecting diseases in the early stages.

There is little reason to worry about the amount of radiation you are exposed to during an x-ray.   If you are pregnant, or suspect that you may be, you should tell your doctor and technologist before the test is performed, as special precautions must be taken.

Your Physician may order the following general x-rays:

  • Bone series
  • Spine and pelvis
  • Head and neck
  • Chest, thorax, abdomen
  • Lower limb
  • Upper limb
  • Joints

What to bring for your x-ray:

  • Bring the referral requisition and any documentation your physician has given you.
  • Provide your Provincial Health Card
